Strong Bodies is an evidence-based, low-impact, strength training program for older adults. The goal is to improve core components of physical fitness so participants can engage in activities of daily life. It helps prevent injuries and shorten recovery time if injuries occur. Participants meet two days per week for one hour over 12 weeks. They engage in 8-12 exercises using hand weights, ankle weights, and body weight. All exercises have modifications and can be done sitting in a chair, making it ideal for people with limited mobility. Evaluations include a fitness test done at the beginning and end, weekly tracking logs, and a post-program evaluation. Program leaders are required to be trained first; Gabi Murza trains leaders in for Utah.
