Biography

I developed a passion for public health education when I was a student at the University of Florida and worked with the GatorWell Health Promotion Program for three years. My career began in 2006 at a health department in a rural Florida county, then overseas to Eastern Europe (Moldova) as a Peace Corps volunteer, and back to Florida as an FCS Extension faculty for 9 years before joining USU Extension's HEART Initiative. No matter the location or position, public health is my calling.

Teaching Interests

In my current position, I focus on the role healthy eating, physical activity, resiliency skills, and other healthy behaviors play in decreasing injury and chronic pain, and how developing and utilizing those skills can be essential in substance use recovery. Other related areas of interest are workplace injury prevention, inmate education and resource connection, stigma reduction, and youth and adult workforce resilience building.
