A savvy consumer knows their stuff.  Utah County 4-H consumer education projects focus on developing critical decision-making skills that support youth now and in the future.   This program area focuses upon the skills of consumer observation, comparison, and the ability to make a fact-based purchases, adhere to a budget, and examine quality and quantity.  Additionally, the development of entrepreneurship, and financial responsibility.

This contest is based on the skills of consumer observation, comparison, and the ability to make a fact-based decisions. Participants review a series of items in four categories and prioritize the items based upon the needs in the provided scenario. Each participant is then expected to defend their rankings to a panel of judges during an Oral Reasons session.

This contest is held at the county level and at the national 4-H event, Western National Round-Up.
