Youth Leadership

Developing Tomorrow's Leaders Today

Join a youth council to gain invaluable leadership skills and experience. Today's youth are the leaders of tomorrow, and participating in a youth council helps develop the skills and confidence needed for lifelong leadership. By taking on leadership roles now, young people can grow into great adult leaders, shaping a better future for all.

Program Overview

  • Develop leadership, public speaking, and mentoring skills. 
  • Increase self confidence, growth mindset, and personal resilience. 
  • Expand resume and portfolio.
  • Organize and facilitate community service-learning projects.
  • Create new friendships and lasting memories.
  • Select and participate in a Committee. 
    • Service: Organize and facilitate a community service and a service-learning project for the club.
    • Activities: Organize and facilitate monthly activities for the club to participate in.
    • Outreach: Organize and facilitate one outreach activity and one summer camp.
  • Have 80% attendance to meetings.
  • Participate in club-organized service projects.
  • Participate in club-organized outreach and summer camp activities.
  • Enter a minimum of one exhibit into the county fair e.g., arts, baking, robotics, leadership. (Due April)
  • Prepare a demonstration for 4-H County Contest. (Due June)
  • Prepare a portfolio for the Utah 4-H Portfolio
    Contest. (Due February)
Each Youth Council has their own dates and schedules. Check the individual documents to see dates and times.
  • $10 for 4-H membership

Utah 4-H hosts several statewide events throughout the year. Teen Council members have first priority to participate in these exciting events. These events are held throughout the state and each have their own additional travel costs. If youth are interested in attending a state event, they will need to sign up online and pay the cost.

TRY Team Training- March, Richfield (7th-12th Grade)

Mock Legislature- April, Salt Lake City (9th-12th Grade)

i4-H- June, Logan (7th-8th Grade)

4-H Classic- June, Spanish Fork (3rd-12th Grade)

Teen Summit- July, Logan (9th-12th Grade)
