Living with Wildlife
The Swaner Preserve exists firmly on the wildland-urban interface, as does the majority of Summit County. Interactions between wildlife and people are occur often, and resources exist to protect human health, property, and the safety of wildlife.
Birds at Swaner
The Preserve is incredibly important habitat not only to Sandhill Cranes, but other birds who use the wetlands as a migratory stopover point or call the Preserve home all year-round.
Other Wildlife
Wildlife from bobcats and beavers to reptiles and amphibians call the Preserve’s critical habitat home.
Plants on the Preserve
From the wetlands of the Preserve to the sagebrush shrubland hillside, a wide diversity of plants can be found on the Preserve.
