Swaner’s school programs enhance science learning experiences by providing hands-on activities and exploration. Each program offering is aligned with Utah SEEd Standards and serves to enhance students’ classroom learning experience.

A maximum of 75 students can be accommodated per guided field trip.
(less than 25 students)
Field trips for fewer than 25 students are 1.5 hours in length. Students will engage in a SEEd aligned activity, a nature walk or snowshoe on the Preserve, and exploration of Swaner’s exhibits. The cost is $50 for up to 10 students, then $5 for each additional student.
Guided field trips are available for non-school groups, including Scouts, church groups, and other youth-focused organizations. These field trips are 1.5 hours in length. Participants will engage in a hands-on nature activity, a nature walk or snowshoe on the Preserve, and exploration of Swaner’s exhibits. The cost is $50 for up to 10 participants, then $5 for each additional participant.
(20 or fewer youth)
Self-guided field trips are for school and youth groups who want to explore and learn at their own pace. Self-guided trips are only available Wednesday – Friday, 10 am to 4 pm. Click here to learn more and request a self-guided field trip.

Cancellation Policy
Understanding that occasional circumstances may prevent schools from participating in their scheduled program, Swaner allows groups to cancel their field trip or classroom visit up to 7 days prior the scheduled program. If you request to cancel 6 or less days before your program, a 50% cancellation fee is due at that time. Swaner staff also have the ability to cancel a program up to 7 days before the scheduled program, if absolutely necessary. Should a cancellation occur, Swaner staff will work with school staff to reschedule based upon availability of both Swaner and the school.
Inclement weather cancellations: Schools may cancel up to 24 hours prior a scheduled program with no penalty due to inclement weather. If a school cancels less than 24 hours before the start of a scheduled program, a 50% cancellation fee is due at that time. Swaner Preserve staff may also cancel a scheduled program with at least 24 hours’ notice due to inclement weather that would affect travel conditions for Swaner staff or participating schools, or weather conditions that would affect the safety of participants and staff during the program.
