USU Botanical Center
The Davis County Extension office is housed on the USU Botanical Center property providing us access to hands-on research and learning opportunities.
About Davis County Agriculture
Davis County has a great agricultural land and one of longest growing seasons in Utah. The Ag profile provides this information and more.
Backyard Chickens
Davis County has shown interest in owning and caring for background chickens. USU Extension has several resources to help.
Horticulture is the art and science of growing plant material. Whether your interests are in vegetables and fruits, ornamentals, or even if you just want to have a greener lawn, USU Extension can help provide useful, research-based information.
Garden and Plant Diagnostic Clinics
What: Get help diagnosing what disease or insect may be pestering your garden.
When: Tuesdays & Thursdays from 9 AM to 12 PM. Starting Spring of 2023

Note: If you cannot visit our clinic during the scheduled hours above you may submit questions & pictures (detailed and in-focus) via email. Our Master Gardener Volunteers will get back with you during the days/times listed. If visiting in person, masks are recommended but not required.
Master Gardener Program
Have you always wanted to learn more about gardening? Do you want to help the community with your gardening knowledge? Now is your chance!
The Master Gardener Program is a comprehensive gardening course that will boost your knowledge in multiple gardening topics and help you develop gardening skills. Classes are taught by USU professors and specialists who have in-depth knowledge and understanding of each topic.
The Davis County Master Gardener class is held once a year and the cost is $235 and includes all reading and lecture materials as well as an individual membership to the USU Botanical Center. Membership to the USUBC provides discounts at several local nurseries, additional classes taught at the USUBC, and access to members-only events and classes.

Food & Nutrition
Food is an essential part of our day to day activities and with all of the buzz surrounding food, it can be a little confusing on how to navigate through. With the rise of obesity, diabetes, and many other nutrition health concerns, it is important to get the right information. Below are services, classes and programs offered at USU Extension - Davis County.
Pressure Gauge Testing
Davis County Extension offers pressure gauge testing for your canner. Call (435)919-1321 to schedule an appointment. The cost is $2 per lid.
Food Preservation
Preserving food is a great way to lengthen the shelf life of foods. However, it is important to make sure that the equipment and recipes used are correct.

Create Better Health
The Create Better Health education program aims to help low-income families have the tools needed to provide the most nutritious foods while maintaining a budget.

EFNEP
(Expanded Food and Nutrition Education Program)- Designed to assist limited resource audiences in acquiring the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed-behavior necessary for nutritionally sound diets, and to contribute to their personal development and the improvement of the total family diet and nutritional well-being.

Food Safety Manager's Certification
Do you need to take the Food Safety certification exam? USU Extension offers the exam at many locations. The cost is $80, which covers the study materials and exam.

Empowering Financial Wellness
The mission of our Empowering Financial Wellness program is to empower women, limited income households, and community educators across Utah to make informed financial decisions to serve their own life goals and improve financial wellness through:
(1) developing innovative resources;
(2) offering timely educational opportunities; and
(3) increasing awareness of personal finance best-practices.
