What is the Science Pathway?
Investigate the world through experiments, observation, and discovery-based learning. The Utah 4-H Science STEM pathway includes projects that use traditional sciences such as physical, life, earth, space and social sciences. Projects on this pathway usually involve using the scientific method to study things, form hypotheses, and test theories. Some of these sciences include physics, chemistry, biology, geology, and environmental science.
The Science STEM Pathway helps youth explore biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science through hands-on learning experiences such as experiments, data collection, and real-world investigations.

Leadership Opportunities
Youth can grow as leaders by:
- Start a club exploring your favorite area of science
- Use your invention skills to work with friends or family to come up with a unique solution to a problem you are facing
- Become a science leader by applying to be a State STEM ambassador. You can help integrate scientific learning into statewide 4-H activities
- Apply to be on the design team for i4-H Camp, which focuses on STEM
- Leading experiments
- Teaching science demonstrations
- Presenting research
- Mentoring younger students
Service Opportunities
Participants can give back through:
- Community science nights
- Environmental monitoring projects
- STEM fairs
- Public demonstrations
*Clubs completing science projects are eligible to complete the requirements to earn the Utah 4-H Service in STEMaward by teaching others about scientific concepts or using science skills to help your community
