The Institute of Outdoor Recreation and Tourism helps communities, agencies, and partners understand where, when, and how recreation and tourism use occurs; how that use affects capacity and experience; and what kinds of investments or interventions are most likely to create lasting public value. Our work in this area focuses on three core services: visitor monitoring, capacity analysis, and economic development studies.
Visitor Monitoring
We provide practical, scalable recreation use monitoring services that help agencies and communities build defensible information on visitor volume, timing, patterns, characteristics, and spending.
