This tree is versatile and tough. It can tolerate drought and urban conditions, and its roots do not raise sidewalks. This variety has an upright form and can get to be 50' tall, so be conscious of power lines. It is a great shade tree and attracts birds and small mammals.

Leaf
Alternate, simple, ovate, and serrated. Dark green, bright yellow in the fall.
Fruit
Dray, oval nutlet. Present September-October, attracts birds and small mammals.
Flower
Male and female catkins, yellow and green respectively. Not showy.
Advantages
Drought resistant, tolerates urban conditions, does best in full sun, pest free.

No significant disadvantages.
