Pink Dawn Viburnum

This viburnum is special because of its hot pink flowers that bloom in the early spring. Its new foliage is bronzy purple and turns to a red-purple in the fall. It has pitted fruit like other viburnums.

Leaf
Opposite, simple, ovate, and serrated. New foliage is bronzy purple maturing to a reddish purple in the fall.
Fruit
Bright red pitted fruit, maturing to a black color in July and August. Usually eat by birds before fully ripe.
Flower
Hot pink cymes, about 2" across. Blooms in early spring.
Advantages
Adapts to many different soil types, drought tolerant once established, attracts pollinators and birds.
Disadvantages
Some pruning recommended, messy fruit.
