Peking Cotoneaster

This cotoneaster is recognized for its pubescent twigs, sharp pointed leaves, and white flowers that bloom in the spring. It is a very dense bush. It is tough and can tolerate poor soils and some drought once established. In the fall the leaves turn orange and red. Makes a great choice for a border bush.

Leaf

Alternate, simple, ovate shape. Green leaves in the summer and orange and red in the fall.

Fruit

Black colored persistent fruits that attract birds.

Flower

White with tinges of pink, blooms May-June, attracts pollinators.

Advantages

Adapts to many different soil types, tolerates some drought once established.

Disadvantages

Dense foliage, may be messy as leaves and fruit drop.
