Mohican Viburnum

The Mohican Viburnum is a viburnum that does better in dry soils and is more drought tolerant than other viburnums. It has white flowers and fruit that is orange-red for several weeks before turning black. In the fall its foliage is a purple-red color.

Leaf

Opposite, simple, ovate. 2-5" long. Dark, dull green. Leathery with uniform serrations. Fall color is purple-red.

Fruit

Pitted, orange-red fruit maturing to a black color over several weeks.

Flower

White, no fragrance. 3-5" in diameter. Flat topped 7 ray cymes.

Advantages

Adapts to many different soil types, resistant to bacterial leaf spot. Withstands dry soils better than other viburnums.

Disadvantages

Messy fruit.
