Jack Pine

Pinus banksiana

Planted 2016

This shabby, evergreen tree is best known for its ability to grow in just about any soil condition. Jack pines prefer well drained and even rocky soils, and are known for their dense cones that often require a fire before they will open and disperse their seeds. While not the most attractive, it is extremely resilient as long as it gets plenty of sun.
