A uniquely graceful looking tree, it prefers well drained soils and a little bit of space to grow in. It doesn't appreciate crowding, but can be planted in clusters or alone as a statement tree. It is mostly pest free and very low maintenance.

Leaf
Bright and glossy green when young, deepening to dark green as needles mature. 1/4" long, densely packed on branches.
Fruit
Cones 4" long, tend to grow in clusters along the branches. Purple at the beginning of summer and light brown in the fall.

Non-flowering
Advantages
Low maintenance, easy to grow. Perfect for a privacy screen.
Disadvantages
Shade causes weak growth, not highly drought tolerant.
