Fragrant Viburnum

This viburnum is a fragrant variety. It is a hybrid producing the largest leaves in the semi-snowball viburnum family. Its leaves are dark green, it has white flower, unproductive fruit, and has an open and loose growing habit. Drought tolerant once established. Attracts pollinators and birds.

Leaf
Opposite, simple, ovate and serrated. Dark green in the summer turning to a reddish-purple in the fall. 4-5" long.
Fruit
Pitted, red fruit, turning black when mature. Frequently unproductive and does not root easily.
Flower
Pink buds opening to white blooms. A semi-snowball shape. Fragrant, blooms late April through May. 5-6" diameter.
Advantages
Adapts to many different soil types, drought tolerant once established. Attracts pollinators and birds.
Disadvantages
Messy fruit, some pruning recommended to maintain shape.
