Douglas Fir

Pseudotsuga menziesii

Planted 1986

The Douglas fir is not a true fir (the name Pseudotsuga means fake hemlock), and can be found throughout the northwest and intermountain regions. The Douglas fir is a very large evergreen that prefers moist, well-drained soils and full sun. This tree can be spotted by the forked bracts that protrude from its cones.
