Burkwood Viburnum

This viburnum is easy to grow. Once established it has good heat and drought tolerance. It requires some pruning if shape is important to the grower. the leaves are green and glossy on top, it produces white flowers in the spring. It has black fruit in the summer, and red leaves in the fall. It prefers moist, but well-drained, soils.

Leaf
Opposite, simple, and ovate. Glossy green in the summer and red in the fall.
Fruit
Pitted fruits ripen in the summer, they go from red to black, attracts wildlife.
Flower
White, flat topped cymes, fragrant, blooms in April.
Advantages
Adapts to different soil types, but does well in moist, well drained soils. Heat and drought tolerant.
Disadvantages
Prefers moist soils, messy fruit some maintenance required to keep shape.
