This slow growing spruce is narrow with a pyramidal form and can reach 30 feet tall.  Once established is drought tolerant. Its needles are blue-green with 2 white stripes.

Leaf

Needles, pointed, ½-1” long, flat, blue-green, two white stomata.

Fruit

Violet-purple when immature, cinnamon-brown when mature, 1 ½”-2 ½” long, pendulous.

Flower

Monoecious cones.

Advantages

Adapts to high pH soils and heat and cold.

Disadvantages

Intolerant of shade.
