Arizona cypress is a native to Arizona where it is found on dry rocky hillsides. Once established it is very drought tolerant, has a great blue color and pyramidal shape, and does best in full sun.

Leaf

Evergreen pointed scales, flat and closely overlap, soft textured, gray-green.

Fruit

Monoecious cones, globose, 6-8 flat or slightly depressed scales with a point.

Flower

Male cones are small, oblong, and yellow; females are reddish brown.

Advantages

Well-adapted for hot desert areas.

Disadvantages

Intolerant of shade.
