H. Paul and Mary Jane Rasmussen Teaching Garden

Dr. H. Paul Rasmussen directed the Utah Agricultural Experiment Station for 20 years and was the driving force in the creation of the Utah State University Botanical Center. His foresight, leadership and persistence ensured a place of education and beauty for future generations.
The Rasmussen Teaching Garden pergolas were moved from the USU Agricultural Research Farm to their permanent home at the entrance of the arboretum along 50 West. Installation of native and drought-tolerant perennials, trees and shrubs took place in fall of 2023 with the help of Master Gardener volunteers.

The purpose of this garden is to highlight plants adapted to the Great Basin, including trees, shrubs, and perennials suitable for local landscapes. It will also include a state-of-the-art irrigation system used to demonstrate water-saving ideas for home landscapes.
