Economics of Behavior
This DVD/CD set discusses some economic aspects of understanding livestock behavior. The DVD contains four videos that show how producers can save both time and money by: 1) training their cows to eat most weeds (you can train 50 head in as little as 12 hours), 2) using molasses blocks in fall to improve livestock distribution and reduce the cost of feeding hay, 3) finishing bison and cattle at a low cost by offering them a choice of foods, and 4) using low-stress livestock handling to improve forage utilization, increase animal numbers and improve riparian health. The companion CD contains fact sheets, discussion questions, examples, articles, spreadsheets and tables for each video to help you implement each method, understand their economic benefits and teach others about the benefits of understanding livestock behavior.
