Youth participate in this contest to develop and demonstrate skills in applying and interviewing for entry-level jobs. The four sample positions align with major 4-H project areas, allowing youth to draw on relevant skills and experiences related to each role.
As part of the contest, participants are required to submit a resume and cover letter during registration, as if they are applying for the selected position. Youth will then attend an in-person event where they will be interviewed by a panel of judges.
Interview questions specific to each job will be provided in advance; however, judges will also ask additional, undisclosed questions to assess adaptability and critical thinking.
Participants will be evaluated based on their preparation and professionalism, communication skills, quality and depth of their responses, critical thinking, knowledge of the position, and overall impression.
