4-H STATE PROJECT AMBASSADORS
The Utah 4-H State Project Ambassadors are the faces of our various program areas. Unlike our State 4-H Ambassadors that represent the program as a whole, State Project Ambassadors focus on one area within Utah 4-H. A 4-H State Project Ambassador is exemplary of Utah 4-H’s brightest and most talented youth. They are self-motivated and extremely passionate about their specific project areas and help provide leadership to and represent the youth involved in those projects.

Apply for the 2025—2026 4-H Year
Applications:
Open March 17—May 12 for Agri-Science, FCS and STEM Project Ambassadors
Open July 31—August 20 for Horse & Livestock Ambassadors
For 4-H Members in grades 9-12 | (Applications open to current 8th-11th grades)
15-month term - June of current 4-H year to August of Following Year for Agri-Science, FCS and STEM Project Ambassadors
13-month term - September to September for Horse and Livestock Project Ambassadors
- Agriscience Ambassador Responsibilities
- Agriscience Ambassadors will help work with the Livestock and STEM Ambassadors to plan and put on the 4-H Classic plus provide the statewide Agriscience TRY (teens reaching youth) training
- Agriscience Ambassador Qualifications
- Active member in one or more 4-H Agriscience Programs and local club
- Enthusiastic about 4-H
- Leadership Experience
- Have time available and willing to occasionally travel to fulfill this role
- Have parent and/or guardian and County Extension Staff support

- Youth will need to upload a 2 page 4-H resume and 1 page cover letter following the 4-H Portfolio guidelines.

Each year, applicants will need to update their information, maintaining the most pertinent information over time. Content should be clearly identified as 4-H or non-4-H; style of resume and formatting are at the discretion of the applicant.

- FCS Ambassador Responsibilities

- FCS Ambassadors will help provide the leadership for the state FCS contest and provide statewide trainings in the FCS area monthly, plan and put on the 4-H Classic plus provide the statewide Healthy Habits TRY (teens reaching youth) training.

- Foods (cooking, cake decorating, food preservation, nutrition, etc.)
- Sewing (clothing, textiles, sewing construction, quilting, modeling, etc.)
- Family Consumer Science (FCS Knowledge, consumer decision making, life skills development, family finance, interior design, etc.)
- Needle Arts (crochet, knitting, needlework, etc.)
- Or developing healthy habits
... Then this leadership opportunity is for you! You will develop leadership skills of planning and executing events, workshops, trainings and putting on the 4-H Classic while meeting new people from across the state.

- Serve as a 4-H representative and promote 4-H to other organizations
- Meet with 4-H supporters and potential donors
- Provide training and support to local and county based youth leadership teams

- Applicants will participate in an interview to complete the selection process. Applicants will be scored and ranked according to their resume, cover letter, and interview.

- 4 – 8 youth from two or more counties whenever possible, will be selected. It is important to the program that a team show diversity in skills and experiences, be able to work together, and show passion for the program. Efforts will be made to ensure these goals are accomplished.

- Selected youth must attend the mandatory retreat to be scheduled after the team has been assembled.

- Livestock Ambassador Responsibilities
- Attend Ambassador Meetings and Retreats
- Serve as a representative of all Utah 4-H Livestock (large and small) Programs
- Promote 4-H Livestock Programs including junior livestock projects and state contests
- Serve as a coordinator for state level programs and activities
- Represent the youth voice and give input at program area meetings
- Chair/Co-Chair youth committees
- The term is one complete year beginning and ending in July.
