This years camp will have a special focus on market and breeding hog evaluation for youth participants with a focus on judging contests. This year, we are combining the youth and adult tracks so that coaches and their teams can learn together. We will have break out sessions where youth will work on oral reasons, coaches will discuss recruitment and team practice strategies, and other adults will talk about judging in the showring. Our goal is to provide targeted education to each of our unique attendees. Besides the usual live animal evaluation, we have also added a special meats judging track for 4-H and FFA youth, their club leaders, advisors, and any interested adults.

Presenters

Livestock Judging Track

2024 Keynote Speaker: Bryan Williams Bryan Williams, 2024 keynote speaker

We are excited to announce Bryan Williams as our key-note speaker and presenter for the Livestock Judging Track. Bryan is the owner of the online livestock evaluation website Judging Pro (judgingpro.com).

Bryan was raised on a registered Shorthorn/Commercial cattle and sheep operation in Northwest Missouri. He has many wins both as a collegiate competitor and as a coach. He, and his wife Joni, and their daughter Brylee, show livestock across the country and they reside in Princeton Missouri where they raise national competitive show pigs as well as commercial cattle.

Meats Judging Track

We are thrilled to have West Texas A&M’s national champion team coming to run our Meats Judging Track. This past October, WT’s meat judging team won first place at the prestigious American Royal Meats Judging contest, setting a school record. A short time later in November, WT took top honors at the Tyson International Contest in Dakota City, Nebraska. Coaches and team members have achieved some of the highest scores in contest history and we are fortunate to have them sharing their knowledge with us in Utah.

*We invite all participants to participate in Livestock Bowl! This is a fun contest to test your critical thinking skills and general knowledge of the livestock industry. Teams from out-of-state and FFA participants can be formed and declared by Friday at 7:00 p.m. Utah 4-H teams must abide by State Contest rules.

*Rules for Livestock Judging, Meats Judging, Bowl, and the Livestock Skill-a-Thon (for 3 – 5th graders) can be found here.
