Accessibility at Swaner

Parking & Getting Here

The Swaner EcoCenter is located at 1258 Center Drive, Park City, UT in the Kimball Junction shopping center. For information on driving directions, public transit, and parking visit Swaner’s Directions & Parking Page.

To request closer access to our building from the Newpark plaza, call our front desk at 435-649-1767. 

Navigating the EcoCenter

  • Accessible Entrances – The entrance to the EcoCenter and to the back deck and boardwalk are equipped with automated doors and are accessible to wheelchairs and strollers.
  • Elevators – Our four-story observation tower is accessible by elevator.
  • Restrooms are located on the first floor of the EcoCenter and are wheelchair accessible. Changing tables and personal hygiene products are available in both restrooms. A single stalled, all-gender restroom is available in the office suite and can be accessed upon request at the front desk.
  • Seating - Benches and chairs are located throughout the exhibit hall, lobby, classrooms, and back deck areas.
  • Drinking Fountains – A wheelchair-accessible drinking fountain and water bottle filling station is located on the first floor near the restrooms.
  • First Aid – A first aid kit is located at the front desk inside the EcoCenter. An AED is located by the front desk, to the right of the entrance. Should first aid help be required, speak to a staff member.

Trails

The Swaner Preserve offers a diverse network of trails designed to accommodate a wide range of abilities and preferences. This includes: 

  • Paved Path: A smooth, paved path follows the Preserve boundary, passes in front of the EcoCenter, and ties into all surrounding neighborhoods.
  • Wetland Discovery Trail: A single track, variable terrain, out-and-back trail that can be accessed by picking up a key for the gate at the EcoCenter.
  • Boardwalk: A 300 ft ADA accessible boardwalk from the EcoCenter back deck.
  • Spring Creek Trailhead: 10 miles of single-track trails on the North side of the Preserve. At the trailhead is:
    • One all gender, single-stall ADA accessible bathroom available seasonally
    • A covered pavilion with picnic tables, accessed via a crushed gravel path
    • Water fountain with water bottle filling station available seasonally
    • AED  

Service Animals & Pets

Pets, other than service animals, are not allowed inside the EcoCenter, on the back deck & boardwalk, or within the fenced boundary of the south side of the Preserve.

Leashed pets are welcome on the 10 miles of trails that surround and go through the northern section of the Swaner Preserve. Be sure to pick up after your pet! 

Finanical Access

EcoCenter: Entrance to the EcoCenter during open hours is always free. Some traveling exhibitions at the EcoCenter have an entrance fee, but the naturalist room, back deck & boardwalk, and observation tower do not have a charge to explore. Trails: Trails on and around the Preserve are all accessible at no cost. North Side trails and the paved path surrounding the Preserve are open 24/7. The Wetland Discovery Trail is open during EcoCenter open hours (pick up a key from the front desk). 

Programs and activities: For most Swaner programs and activities with a fee, waivers or scholarships are available. Please reach out directly to the program manager for more information. The following programs are always free: Sunday Craft, Birdwatching, Geocaching.
