
Wild Explorers
After the school day ends, join us for a walk on the wild side of science. Participants will spend 2 hours at Swaner from 3:30 to 5:30 one day a week during the 3-week session to learn more about nature and the science that powers it. Our afterschool program is open to youth currently enrolled in Kindergarten through 5th grade and participants should be enrolled based on their current grade level. Each day includes a small snack, outdoor time, and hands-on activities. Participants should come dressed and prepared for the weather each day.

Rain or shine…come ready for learning! Weather is a powerful force that shapes our world in fascinating ways! In this session, participants will observe the different types of weather phenomena and understand how they affect our environment.
Swaner Sleuths

Tuesday, December 3, 10, & 17
Pack your magnifying glass and bring your detective skills to investigate the many mysteries waiting on the Swaner Preserve! Participants will explore the secrets of the natural world and learn how to interpret clues that tell us what animals have been up to.
Sustainable STEM

Dive into the world of environmental engineering, where science and technology come together to create a sustainable future! Your mind will be buzzing with new ideas and possibilities as we explore innovative solutions to environmental challenges for greener world!
Love in the Wild

Tuesday, February 4, 11, & 25

Love is all around us, including in the wild! Participants will learn about different types of symbiosis, family groups, and ways that animals impress one another to find their mates. Your head and your heart will be full after this love-filled session.
Amazing Butterflies

Tuesday, March 4, 11, & 18
Step into the enchanting world of butterflies and be amazed by the delicate beauty and important roles these pollinators play in nature! In this session, participants will explore Swaner’s newest exhibit, Amazing Butterflies, and discover the fascinating ways butterflies contribute to global ecosystems.
Mountain Marvels

Get ready for learning to climb to new heights as we explore the awe-inspiring marvels of mountains. Participants will uncover the geologic forces that played to create Utah’s mountains, investigate about alpine environments, and more in this session that is sure to be the tops!
Welcoming Wetlands

Welcome to the vibrant world of wetlands! Prepare to be inspired by the beauty of these essential habitats as we explore their importance and discover the plants and wildlife that call this habitat home.
Cost
The cost of the program is $60 per session. No refunds will be given for days missed during a session.
Financial Aid
Fee waivers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Fee waivers cover 50% of the program costs. The remaining $30 is due the first day of the program. To apply for a fee waiver, please fill out the online application. You will receive an update about your application within 1 week of receipt. Cancellations & Refunds
Cancellations will receive a 50% refund only if your spot can be filled from the waitlist. If your spot cannot be filled, you will not receive a refund. No refunds will be given for days missed during the session. Registrations are nontransferable.
