Family Butterfly Field Trip

Join Swaner Naturalists and butterfly enthusiast Todd Stout for a family-friendly field trip at Neffs Canyon as we search for and learn about Utah’s native butterflies.
This hike will include frequent stops to observe butterflies in their natural habitat, share fascinating facts, and answer questions for budding lepidopterists of all ages.
Mud Day!

Celebrate International Mud Day with a day of messy, nature-based fun at Swaner Preserve and EcoCenter. Stop by anytime between 10 AM and 2 PM to play, learn, and celebrate the wonders of wetlands.
Enjoy a variety of muddy activities like nature crafts, animal track exploration, sensory play, and learning how wildlife uses mud.

$2/person, free for Swaner members
Get ready to light up your summer night at Swaner Preserve to discover one of nature's most magical insects—fireflies! This family-friendly event is perfect for all ages, and you’re welcome to join us for the whole evening or just stop by for your favorite parts.
Please note that firefly sightings typically begin around 9:30-9:45pm on the wetlands of the Swaner Preserve.
