Outdoor Recreation Field Visits

State Parks & Trail Ambassadors
Hear about how Utah’s Division of State Parks has worked to increase capacity in one of their most visited parks and also how they’ve created a brand new state park to alleviate many of the issues associated with dispersed camping around Moab. Also hear from the Grand County Active Transportation and Trails team on their innovative Trail Ambassador’s program.

Collaboration on the Colorado

Spend the afternoon on a spectacular float trip down the “Moab Daily” section of the Colorado River! Hear from state and federal land management agencies on how they have been working to collaboratively manage outdoor recreation use both on the river and on the many campgrounds and trails located along the river’s edge. 

Gateway Community Field Visits

Housing Affordability
Join other Basecamp participants on a tour of several affordability housing projects happening around Grand County! Learn about some of the area's unique partnership structures, strategic funding sources, recent ordinance changes, and more!Led by the Housing Authority of Southeastern Utah, this field visit will showcase projects from the Moab Area Community Land Trust and Community Rebuilds, as well as examples of private developers taking part in Grand County's high density housing overlay.

Moab Main Street Walk
Come join other Basecamp participants on a walking tour of Mainstreet Moab! Led by city staff, learn about Moab's history, the unique transportation challenges that come with having a major highway as your main street, and some of the unique strategies the city is planning to use to try and address them!
