Maren Wright Voss, ScD

Biography

Dr. Maren Wright Voss has completed master’s degrees and doctoral studies in psychology and health sciences. She began her work at Utah State University as one of the pilot faculty members in the Health Extension; Advocacy, Research, and Teaching (HEART) initiative to address Utah’s Opioid Epidemic.

She is principal investigator on Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) funded rural opioid grants to provide better integration of prevention, treatment, and recovery services with special attention to reducing Neonatal Abstinence Syndrome. She directs the HRSA funded $2.3 million Necessary Education and eXperiential Training for Upcoming Paraprofessionals (NEXT-UP) training and internship program for Certified Peer Support Specialists in Utah.

She has been instrumental in bringing the Living Well with Chronic Pain workshop series to Tooele, Salt Lake, and Utah Counties and in first-time ever online offerings, offering solutions which address pain management with alternatives to opioids. Dr. Voss and HEART faculty have received 15 awards in the past two years for their innovate work in addressing opioid harm reduction in Utah.
