Damon Polk

Biography

Damon Polk is a member of the San Carlos Apache Tribe (AZ) and the Kwatsan (Quechan) Indian Tribe of Fort Yuma, California. He is a Co-Founder of the Red Circle Lodge where he serves as the Cultural Director, Substance Abuse Counselor (CADC II), and on the Marketing Management Team. The Red Circle Lodge offers Inpatient Treatment services for Native American adolescents. RCL utilizes the beautiful strength of Native American cultural practices as a natural foundation for healing. Balanced with proven Western treatment modalities they create opportunities for individual motivation, growth, and vision towards healthy recovery. Damon provides cultural appropriate material and activities to compliment individual and group treatment plans. Damon facilitates ongoing cultural competency training for staff development.

Damon is humbled to be included in this exciting healing event. Damon resides in Cedar City, UT with his wife Dori, son Julian, and their Chihuahua, Hazel Polk.

Damon is the recipient of the 2020 ASU Center for Applied Behavioral Health Policy/Cultural Heritage Award. For over twenty years, the CABHP has recognized the top contributors to Arizona's Behavioral Health Community. The Heritage Award recognizes an individual, or agency that has brought cultural distinction to the behavioral health field.

Damon was honored to be a presenter at the National Indian Child Welfare Act Conference in 2018, 2019, and 2021, and as a 2018 presenter and 2019 keynote speaker at the Phoenix Area Indian Health Service Behavioral Health Conference.
