Shannon Tooke

Biography

Shannon Tooke earned both a bachelor and master’s degree in business administration from Utah State University, as well as a master's degree in human resources. She is of the Nimasii Dine’ (Irish People) born for the Naasht’ézhí Tábąąhá (Zuni Water's Edge Clan.) Her paternal grandfathers are Nimasii Dine’ (Irish People) and her maternal grandfathers are Táchii’nii (Red Running into Water Clan.) She was born and raised in To’Nanees’Dizi (Tuba City, Arizona.) Shannon is skilled in communications, public speaking, leadership, research, cultural awareness, community awareness, and promoting sustainable energy. Additionally, she actively promotes to the Diné ("The People" - Navajo) and all Indigenous Tribes to live a healthy and sober lifestyle. Through her education and life experiences, she has developed an understanding and passion for the importance she calls "The 3 E's" (Education, Enlightenment, and Empathy) for sober living.

Shannon’s presentation is a personal account of the many obstacles and challenges of growing up on the Diné (Navajo) Reservation and recognizing her own recovery from addiction by utilizing the Three E's (Education, Enlightenment, and Empathy.) She discusses these principles with the hope that individuals will gain an understanding and appreciation of the Diné people.
