Biography

Larry Cesspooch is a Ute filmmaker, storyteller, and spiritual leader. Larry grew up on the Uintah & Ouray Ute Reservation in Northeastern Utah. He served over twelve years as a Utah Humanities Public Square Speaker, created the Ute Tribe Audio-Visual Department, one of the first tribal production groups in the states, was editor for the Ute Bulletin tribal newspaper, and did public relations for the tribe. In 2002, he created his own production company, Through Native Eyes Productions. Larry continues to preserve Ute history through UteTube.org, the Ute Indian Tribe’s digital photo, film, and video archive. He maintains a Sweat Lodge and is one of the Spiritual Leaders for his Noohchew Ute people.

Larry’s presentation, Poowavie Moppaht - The Medicine Wheel & Wavookie Smudging, will discuss how the Medicine Wheel can help explain our state of being and how we are all related. He will show how smudging with cedar or sweet grass can be used in prayer to help us though any challenges in life.
