Intermountain Tribal & Rural Opioid Wellness Summit

The Tribal and Rural Opioid Resource Center in Roosevelt, Utah, is honored to have presented the very successful 2021 Intermountain Tribal & Rural Opioid Wellness Summit: Bridging Harm Reduction & Recovery in Rural Communities, and offered best practices, community panels, and opioid harm reduction education!

Over 300 participants enjoyed sessions from leading researchers, service providers, and community members as they discuss the intersection of opioids, mental health, and well-being. This year's goal was to inform and strengthen rural and tribal prevention, treatment and recovery services through increased understanding of harm reduction, stigma and supportive recovery environments, and by all accounts, the Summit hit the mark!

Utah State University, Utah Department of Human Services Division of Substance Abuse and Mental Health, and the Rural Health Association of Utah co-sponsored the FREE “SUMMIT for ALL” event. Featured presenters included Shawn and Cassandra Dorius of Public Science Collaborative (Iowa State University), community recovery-readiness researchers. Panelists included tribal and rural addiction specialists and community officials. Lunchtime and afternoon sessions featured Naloxone trainings, holistic health, interpersonal communication, and peer support specialist classes.

The 2022 Opioid Wellness Summit is slated for next May, we'd love to have you join us!
