Weber County 4-H Newsletter
November 2022

Happy Fall! Thanks to everyone who came out to our Fall Opening Social at Green Acres.  We had a great time making s’mores and visiting with everyone.  We are looking forward to seeing everyone again at our Achievement Night on November 7th. We all feel 4-H is a fantastic program and it has had positive impacts on our youth, but is there more to this than just a feeling?  YES!  The state just released the 2022 4-H Impact results.  State-wide 4-H you are 3X more likely to learn about responsibility, 98% more likely to learn about problem solving and 96% more likely to learn about being responsible for their actions than their counterparts who are not in 4-H.  Here in Weber County 89% of our youth demonstrate responsibility, 87% demonstrate a high work ethic and 91% demonstrate skills in problem solving.  Thank you, parents and leaders, for helping instill these great values on our youth. Think about the impact 4-H could have in our community if we got more kids involved?  The best way to get more kids involved is to have more clubs for them to join.  We need you to be a club leader!  If you want to join is in making a difference and making an impact with our youth, call the office today and talk with Sharon or myself on how you can become a club leader. We are looking forward to having another great 4-H year, with your help it will be even better!
Best wishes,
David Widdison
4-H Program Coordinator

Community Christmas Giving Tree

Community Christmas

It’s that time of year! We are so excited to participate in the Community Christmas Giving Tree program again. This is an amazing event to be a part of and we are happy so many volunteers make it special for those families. This will help 2,000 children in our surrounding communities have a memorable Christmas and give the families some wonderful resources to help them in the future. There will be a Giving Tree with paper ornaments at the 4-H office starting November 7th for you to select to donate Christmas gifts for children in need.

These ornaments include the following information:
*Gender and age of the children
*Donation suggestions for children such as: toy ideas, clothing/shoe size, hygiene items, etc.
*The ornaments suggest the general needs that the families we are serving have requested
   *Drop-off instructions
*The ornaments do NOT get assigned to a specific child. The donations get pooled together and put into the “Christmas Store’ area for the parents to shop from the items and select what their children need.
