Utah Water Watch data is publicly available on CitSci.org.

Utah Water Watch data is publicly available on CitSci.org, which was developed through the Natural Resources Ecology Lab (NREL) at Colorado State University as an initiative to promote citizen involvement in scientific research. Volunteers submit their monitoring data into our datasheets on CitSci for each of their sites.

See instructions below to join our project and submit data in both the app and desktop versions of the database.

Joining CitSci (App)

Register

On the app’s main screen are Login and Register buttons. If you don’t yet have a CitSci account, select “Register” to make an account. Fill in the requested information and select “Register.” You will receive a confirmation email with more instructions on activating your account.

Join Our Project

Once your account is activated, go to “All Projects” and search for “Utah Water Watch.” Select “Ask to Join.” When the request is approved, you will find the database under “My Projects.”

Submitting Data (App)

Login

If you already have an account, select “Login,” then enter the username and password associated with your account.

Select the Utah Water Watch database.

Select Monitoring Type

The next page features reminders about the purpose of Utah Water Watch. It also features a drop-down table. Click the drop down and select the type of monitoring associated with your site.

Complete General Info

Select the date that your observation was completed and select yourself as Observer.

Select the location associated with your site.

Record Data

Fill in any data that was collected, including any pictures taken. When finished, hit “Submit.”

Joining CitSci (Desktop)

Sign Up

On the CitSci home page, there is a "Sign Up" button. If you don’t yet have a CitSci account, select “Sign Up” to make an account. (If you already have an account, then select "Login" instead. Fill in the requested information and select “Sign Up.” You will receive a confirmation email with more instructions on activating your account.

Join Our Project

Once your account is activated, go to “My Profile” and scroll until you find the “Join a Project” button and select it. Search for "Utah Water Watch" under the "Projects" section. Click "Ask to Join" (this will appear in the box that says "Member" in the second photo). Our project manager will receive an email to approve your request. When the request is approved, you will find the database under “My Projects.”

Submitting Data (Desktop)

Login

Select the Utah Water Watch Project

Under the "My Projects" tab, select UWW to be taken to the home page of our database.

Select Add Data

On the UWW home page, select the "Add Data" button and click on the datasheet you need for your site.

Select Site Location

Enter the date that your observation was completed. Select yourself as the Observer. Select your site from the list of locations. Use the site ID given to you.

Add any photos of your site. Submit your data.
