Community Fishing
Many of the lakes, ponds and reservoirs are stocked with fish by the Division of Wildlife Resources (DWR). The DWR are interested in fishing related activities at your monitoring locations, so while you are out monitoring keep track of the number of people fishing, hours spent, types and numbers of fish. This data is shared with the Community Fisheries group.
Fishing data can be personal, or obtained by surveying fisherpeople present at the site. If multiple people are surveyed, combine fish catch and time spent data. Also count the number of cormorants and pelicans present (pictured right), known fish predators. Fish species different than those on the datasheet (and their quantities) can be recorded in the “other” section.
