What is AYHC?

First established in the 1970s, the American Youth Horse Council (AYHC) was founded by breed organizations and specialists to provide support to all youth and youth leaders throughout the equine industry. Today the AYHC is leading the charge to unite kids and horses, across breeds and disciplines, through a variety of means and opportunities.

Utah 4-H Horse Program will be taking a delegation to present and learn from other equine professionals. The goal of this delegation is to have the opportunity to share our passion for horses on a national platform and bring back new and exciting ideas to help our local horse communities and 4-H families throughout the state! We will select up to 24 youth to road trip to Tucson, AZ for this amazing experience. Youth interested in attending will need to apply. 

How to apply:

Applications can be found on Zsuite and will be available January 15, 2025 and due February 1, 2025. Those selected to be part of the official Utah 4-H Horse Program Delegation will be notified no later than February 15, 2025.

Applications must include the following:

  • A 4-H Portfolio
  • A letter of recommendation from a county or state coordinator/faculty member with horse program responsibilities
  • A workshop outline for either of the following topics:
    • The Power of Knowledge: Experiences Outside the Show Ring
    • Equine Experiences Outside the Show Ring: Sharing Our Love of Horses with Horseless Kids

     • What has your involvement with this program area been in the past?
     • What do you hope to learn from this leadership role?
     • How do you plan to serve your community after attending AYHC?

Total Cost

Approximately $700 per person. Selected delegation will be sent a registration link and payment will need to be submitted by March 1st.

Meals & Entertainment: $100

Travel

The selected delegation will be caravanning to Tucson together. We will leave early Wednesday, April 9 and return in the evening of April 14, 2025. Times and locations for drop-off/pickup will be finalized as we get closer to departure.
