In addition to the classwork, students are required to provide a minimum of 40 hours of volunteer service back to their community to receive their certificate. Most participants in Utah county complete their service hours at Thanksgiving Point on various activities such as helping maintain the Learning Garden or working on any of several volunteer crews in Ashton Gardens. More details on volunteering will be covered during the class. Other opportunities are available within Utah County, and participants are allowed to develop their own volunteer project, with approval from the project coordinator.
