Turkey Program
The 4-H Turkey Program is for youth ages 8 to 18. 4-H Youth order turkey poults around April of each year, receive them in July, and raise these turkeys all summer and fall. Turkeys are then taken to the Utah Jr. Turkey Show held in Bothwell, Utah the second week in November.
For the November show, turkeys are usually dropped off on a Thursday and processed, then judged and bagged on Friday, with the Turkey auction taking place on Saturday.
Only the top 20 to 30 toms and hens are eligible to show in the auction. Turkeys that don’t qualify for the auction at the show can be taken home and sold or given away. All turkeys processed at the facility in Bothwell are state inspected and therefore are eligible to be re-sold within Utah.

- Drop birds off on Thursday, November 12th @ 10:30 AM or arrange drop off with Davis 4-H Program Coordinator, Jenna Aldrich. One of the most important goals for 2020 is to keep the turkey plant workers safe and the plant in continual operation. In order to achieve this, we are asking those dropping off birds to stay in their vehicles. We will have a designated team present to safely unload your birds. In order to carry this out smoothly, it is an absolute requirement that all birds be tagged and registered in the google form before they arrive at the plant.
