About Dr. Wade Horn:
Wade Horn, PhD, is a clinical child psychologist and nationally recognized advocate for healthy marriage, responsible fatherhood, and children's well-being. He has spent more than three decades working to strengthen families through research, public policy, education, and advocacy.
In 1994, Dr. Horn co-founded the National Fatherhood Initiative with Don Eberly and David Blankenhorn. The organization was established to promote the importance of fathers in children's lives and encourage greater father involvement in families.
In 2001, President George W. Bush appointed Dr. Horn as Assistant Secretary for Children and Families at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, a position he held until 2007. During his tenure, he played a central role in developing and implementing the federal Healthy Marriage Initiative, which sought to help couples who voluntarily choose marriage develop the skills and resources necessary to form and sustain healthy marriages.
Working alongside federal and state leaders, including former Utah Governor and U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Mike Leavitt, Dr. Horn helped establish federal funding for healthy marriage and responsible fatherhood programs. These initiatives have supported community-based organizations providing relationship education and family-strengthening services throughout the United States.
Often referred to as the nation's former "Marriage Czar," Dr. Horn has been an influential voice in discussions about the relationship between marriage, father involvement, child well-being, and public policy.
His work emphasizes the importance of healthy marriages not simply as a benefit to couples, but as a foundation for stronger families, healthier children, and more resilient communities.
