Regulations

Construction stormwater in Utah is regulated through the Utah Pollution Discharge Elimination System (UPDES). Stormwater permits are required for construction activities before stormwater can be discharged from the site. Permits are required for construction activities by owners and general contractors. 

What construction activites are regulated?

Construction activities include soil disturbance such as clearing, grading, and excavating land and activities that generate pollutants.

Required in Utah for discharging stormwater from any construction site or construction activity that disturbs one or more acres of land OR less than 1 acre that is part of a development plan or sale that will ultimately disturb one or more acres of land.

Common Plan Permits

Required in Utah for construction activities that disturb one acre or less. This permit is intended for smaller, single lot housing projects.
