Art in the Arboretum: A Celebration of Creativity, Community, and Connection

The Utah State University Botanical Center will host Art in the Arboretum on Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free, family-friendly event transforms the arboretum into an open-air gallery, where art comes alive, and the community can experience the beauty of art and nature.
This year’s theme, “Community in Bloom,” celebrates the power of creativity to bring people together. As part of the nationwide commemoration of the 250th anniversary of the United States, the event highlights the importance of shared spaces, local talent, and the simple joy of gathering outdoors.
Visitors can stroll through the outdoor exhibition featuring local artists competing in a community art contest, enjoy live music performances, explore hands-on children’s crafts, and take part in a collaborative community art project. A variety of food trucks will also be on-site throughout the day. Guests will have the opportunity to purchase original artwork directly from artists and support local creativity.
“Art in the Arboretum is about more than showcasing creativity – it’s about connection,” said Alex Zesiger, outreach manager for the Botanical Center. “As we celebrate 250 years of our nation, we’re reminded that community is at the heart of everything we do. There’s something special about coming together in a green space, surrounded by art, music, and one another, and watching that sense of community truly bloom.”
Set against the backdrop of the Botanical Center’s gardens, the event invites guests of all ages to slow down, explore, and be inspired.
The USU Botanical Center is located at 80 East 725 South in Kaysville.
