NourishBox brings Utah communities together as they provide easily accessible, nutritious food to individuals in need. The program does this while reducing stigma and increasing engagement in SNAP-Ed Policy, Systems, and Environment changes. NourishBox is a partnership between USU Extension, Utah Hunger Solutions Institute, and Create Better Health (Utah SNAP-Ed).

What are NourishBoxes?
NourishBoxes are weather- and animal-proof structures strategically placed within communities to store food and other essential items for those in need. Designed with accessibility and dignity in mind, these structures are open 24/7, fostering a culture of community care with a guiding principle of Take What You Need, Give What You Can.

How NourishBox Benefits Communities
NourishBoxes raise awareness of food insecurity and mobilize community members to contribute to a sustainable, local solution. They serve as a visible reminder of the importance of supporting our neighbors.By engaging local businesses, organizations, and individuals, NourishBox promotes collaboration to strengthen the community’s ability to address food insecurity and other challenges.
With their open-access model, NourishBoxes reduce stigma, making it easier for individuals to receive support without judgment, fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued.
The initiative enhances SNAP-Ed programming by incorporating PSE strategies and providing opportunities for indirect education, such as displaying nutrition tips, recipes, and wellness resources near NourishBox locations.
