Smart Steps for Stepfamilies
Stepfamilies can be successful! This free 7-session course meets once a week for two hours and is for dating, cohabitating, or remarried couples or individuals who have a child or children from a previous relationship. You'll learn how to answer questions like:
- How do I successfully parent stepchildren?
- Is it possible to build a thriving stepfamily?
- How do we parent across two households?
In each session, you'll cover topics like life changes, handling emotion, communication, and navigating conflict. In the last half hour of each session, you'll learn a specific component of the lesson to teach your child(ren). These skills-based courses are held in a virtual group setting.
Continued government funding of this free course depends on course completion, so please plan to attend all sessions. Virtual and in-person options are available.
Alternatively, there are a few in-person courses available through our partnering agencies. These options are limited and are for the whole family, including children. Virtual and in-person courses cover the same content.
