Biography
I developed a passion for public health education while attending the University of Florida. My career began in 2006 in a rural Florida county, then overseas to Eastern Europe (Moldova), and back to Florida as an Extension faculty for 9 years before joining USU Extension's HEART Initiative. No matter the location or position, public health is my calling.
Teaching Interests
In my current position, I focus on the role healthy eating, physical activity, resiliency skills, and other healthy behaviors play in decreasing injury and chronic pain, and how developing and utilizing those skills can be essential in substance use recovery. Other related areas of interest are workplace injury prevention, inmate education and resource connection, stigma reduction, and youth and adult workforce resilience building. Prior to this position, I provided nutrition and food safety education to community members, and served as an instructor and proctor for the ServSafe Food Managers certification exam.
