Utah’s Food and Nutrition Security Hub
Create Better Health is a statewide initiative working to improve food and nutrition security in Utah. Through education, partnerships, and community-based solutions, we help individuals and families build the skills and access needed to make healthier choices.
From SNAP-Ed to the Create Better Health Hub
Create Better Health began as Utah’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program–Education (SNAP-Ed), a federally funded program providing nutrition education for low-income individuals and families.
While this work focused on teaching skills like healthy cooking, budgeting, and food safety, it also revealed a broader need: improving access to healthy food requires strong systems, community partnerships, and sustainable solutions.
Today, Create Better Health has evolved into the Create Better Health Hub, expanding its impact beyond education to support community health, food access, and long-term well-being across Utah.
Our Mission
At the Create Better Health Hub, our mission is to strengthen food and nutrition security systems and empower Utahns at every stage of life to make healthier choices.
We accomplish this by building strong networks, advancing community-centered research, expanding the nutrition workforce, delivering evidence-based education, sharing impactful stories, and supporting sustainable community solutions.
Our Vision
We envision a nutrition-secure state where healthy food systems are resilient and accessible, and all Utahns have access to healthy foods, safe physical activity spaces, evidence-based health education, and effective support systems.

Why Food and Nutrition Security Matters
Access to healthy food is a key factor in overall health. Many Utah communities face barriers to affordable, nutritious food, which can impact long-term health outcomes.
Create Better Health addresses these challenges by combining nutrition education, community partnerships, and systems-level approaches to improve access and support healthier communities.
Building Healthier Communities Across Utah
Create Better Health works at both the individual and community level, helping people build practical skills while also strengthening the systems that support healthy living.
By connecting education, partnerships, and community-driven solutions, we are working to create lasting improvements in food access, nutrition, and public health across Utah.
