USU Equine Experience leases horses and equipment from the Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Sciences department to provide lessons and experiences. USU Equine Experience passes on this leasing fee to our participants in order to cover the costs required to provide equine experiences.

For the 2026 sessions, we are charging $25/lesson. This is known as a “horse and equipment usage fee,” which is what USU Equine Experience must pay to use the horses.

Currently, in the state of Utah, the average one-hour lesson with a qualified professional on a lesson-quality horse costs anywhere between $40-$100 per lesson. Through the generous support of USU’s Animal, Dairy, and Veterinary Sciences Department, we can offer a discounted rate to our participants.

We look forward to potentially offering scholarships for participants as we gain more community support and funding from generous supporters and donors.
