Become a Volunteer
Please email equine.experience@usu.edu with a filled-out volunteer form if you are interested in volunteering with us! Groups may email us directly with your request. Read the Wellsville volunteer handbook [here] to learn more about our programming opportunities; the Kaysville volunteer handbook is still being developed.
Individual Opportunities
The first step to becoming an individual volunteer is to attend one of our one-hour volunteer orientations, where you'll discover more about USU Equine Experience and the volunteer roles available. No prior horse experience is necessary; we will provide all training if needed!
-
Program volunteers assist by grooming and tacking horses, supporting clients during lessons and activities, leading horses, cleaning up the arena, and putting away tack afterwards. Program volunteers may also have opportunities to engage in herd conditioning, event preparation, and much more!
-
To work directly with horses, volunteers must be at least 12 years of age and show safety and competency. To work directly with participants, volunteers must be at least 16 years of age. Limited opportunities are available for those under 16, provided they are accompanied by an adult guardian at all times.
Group Opportunities
Group volunteer activities are an exciting way to support USU Equine Experience and build team camaraderie! There are a variety of ways your company, university class, service group, social club, or faith-based group can volunteer with us:
- Landscape/gardening
- Painting
- Holiday decorating
- Developing fundraising events
- Grant writing
- Social media support
- Photography and videography
- Event support
All group members must be 12 years of age or older. Youth groups require a 5:1 student-to-adult ratio.
