Who We Are  

Dave has worked with Utah State University throughout his entire career. First, he managed the USU Kaysville Botanical Center. Then he became an associate professor of professional practice for USU's Landscape Architecture & Environmental Planning Department. Dave has worked tirelessly to engage community members and students in best practices of design.

Before joining the LAEP faculty in 2012, Dave practiced landscape architecture and design throughout California and Massachusetts for 37 years. As a member of the LAEP faculty, Dave leads the American Society of Landscape Architects Student Association at USU. His research interests include: community-engaged learning, strategies for career development and student advising, landscape urbanism and sustainable urban design.

Jake's professional career working in land planning and conservation has spanned the extents of the state of Utah and has fostered a deep connection to the people and landscapes that make it an inspiring place to live. His research interests include: grassroots watershed planning and implementation, artful rainwater design and storm-water management, water conservation through landscape design, large scale water management in the inter-mountain west, low impact development, trail and natural open space planning and design.

David Bell served as the USU Cooperative Extension Landscape Architect and an Associate Professor of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning. Previously, he taught at North Carolina State University, the University of Michigan and at Arizona State University. He received his undergraduate degree in Landscape Architecture from Utah State University and his Masters degree in Landscape Architecture from the University of Michigan.

A Utah native, Larry graduated from the University of Utah and later received a master's degree from the University of Massachusetts. He enjoyed a varied career in mining engineering, atomic weapons testing, and eventually as a professor of landscape architecture and environmental planning at Utah State University. Larry served as a professor within the LAEP Department for 19 years, and he worked tirelessly to improve the lives or local stakeholders and community members.
